Two time defending champions Spain progressed to the last 16 of the European Championship with a masterful display 3-0 against a poor Turkey in Nice.

In the past Spain have often found it difficult to break down opponents intent on defending deeply to contain their technical brilliance, but they had no such trouble against a Turkish team who found it impossible to suppress their opponents.

In another match Czech Republic and Croatia were tied 2-all while Italy beat Sweden 1-0.

In earlier matches, England beat wales 2-1, Poland held Germany to a nil-all draw while Northern Ireland beat Ukraine 2-0.

Meanwhile, France leads Group A with 6 points, England leads pool B with 4 points, in pool C Germany leads with 4 points, Croatia leads pool D with 4 points, Italy with 6 points in Pool E while Hungary leads pool F with 3 points.
