Spain has become the first European soccer team to win three back-to-back international tournaments as they successfully defended the Euro 2012 title with a comfortable 4-0 win over Italy this morning.

Spain won the European Championship in 2008, the World Cup in 2010 and another European title today.

Today's game was effectively over at half-time as Spain had taken a 2-0 lead.

It was all too much for Italy striker, Mario Balotelli, who marched straight down the tunnel at the end and angrily shrugged away efforts from Italian officials to get him to stay, before returning for the presentation ceremony.

But, as ‘Ole’ rang around the magnificent stadium, it was a night of glory for the Spanish.

Spain soccer Striker, Cesc Febregas said that today is the happiest day for everyone in Spain as they have done something which has never been achieved by any team.

David Silva, Jordi Alba, Fernando Torres and Juan Mata scored for the World Champions.
