After more than ten years, the Southern Cross Cable has been opened up.

This is after Telecom Fiji Limited today gained access to the cable after it was introduced back in 1999 by FINTEL.

The Southern Cross Cable provides the fastest, most direct, and most secure international internet access bandwidth.

During the Launch this morning, Communication Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum revealed the opening up of the cable to TFL now sees everyone in Fiji being able to benefit from the competitive prices that will now be available.

According to Sayed Khaiyum, the FINTEL had exclusive access to the Southern Cross cable since cable landing was introduced in 1999, and since then work has been done to ensure the market was opened up.

He added that this would benefit the public.
