South Africa is the Las Vegas 7s champion after defeating the Vodafone Fiji 7s 19-12 in a nail biting final.

Masivesi Dakuwaqa scored Fiji’s first try before South Africa scored a converted try in the first half.

South Africa was leading 7-5 at half time.

Waisea Nacuqu scored Fiji’s second try but it was not enough to give Fiji a win.

South Africa now have fourth title in the bag from the five final they have played in the last five tournaments.

Discipline again cost Fiji the final with a yellow card to Vatemo Ravouvou and a red card to Sevuloni Mocenacagi.

Mocenacagi tackled Werner Kok in the air and is likely to miss some games at the Vancouver next week.

South Africa extended their lead to 107 points, Fiji has moved up to second place with 83, England is in third place with 81 while New Zealand is at fourth place with 71 points.

The national side will now head to Canada for the Vancouver 7s which will be held this Saturday and Sunday.
