The Soqosoqo Vakamarama in Fiji is calling on the Interim Government to give them their yearly allocation of $50,000 for next year when the National Budget is announced on Friday.
General Secretary, Adi Finau Tabakaucoro said it was wrong for the interim government to exclude them from the 2007 Revised National Budget, as they deal with women of all races particularly in the rural areas.
Meanwhile the Fiji Council of Social Services are looking forward to getting more funds in next year’s National Budget as they cannot operate effectively on the current budget.
FCOSS Acting Chief Executive, Ambalika Kutty said the minimum amount of funds they get from the government is $900 and the maximum is $10,000 which is not enough to carry out voluntary social services and community welfare work.
The National Budget will be announced by Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry this Friday at Tradewinds Hotel, Lami.
