The Soqosoqo Vakamarama has today slammed the claim by the SDL party that the policies introduced by the interim administration have resulted in the steep increase in poverty.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Adi Finau Tabakaucoro said the cause of negative growth is dependent on previous year’s economic activity.
This is after the SDL general assembly put together 16 resolutions, one of which said that the level of poverty in Fiji since December 6th, 2006 had increased dramatically as confirmed by the Interim Finance Minister in his 2008 Budget address. SDL also reminded the Interim Government that its policies so far and methods of operation promoted poverty by driving away investors and tourists.
