A 49 year old cane cutter of Labasa today pleaded guilty to charges laid against him for raping his 70 year old mother in August this year.
Police Prosecutor, Dharmendra Kumar told magistrates Anare Tuilevuka that the accused committed the offence while the victim was alone at home as other family members were away attending an engagement party.
Victim was admitted at the Labasa Hospital for three days.
Today accused lawyer from legal aid also mitigated for the man and the magistrate also ordered for the victims assessment report in order to know what was the impact of the incident on the mother.
The accused has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on
6th November.
