The Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association has revealed that some of the zones will not follow the qualifying standards put forward by the Coca Cola Games committee this year.
Coca Cola Games Chief Organizer Vuli Waqa says out of the 17 zones, six will go ahead with the new qualifying standard rule.
The Six zones include Suva Zone 1 and 2, Triple N, Tailevu, Taveuni and Levuka.
Under the old system which will be followed by 11 zones, the first and second place getters in each zone event automatically qualify for the Coke Games.
Under the new qualifying standard system, all athletes who make the qualifying time, throw or jump will qualify for the games.
Waqa says the Coke Games are the Olympic Games for Fiji secondary school athletes and the best of the best should come in to participate in the games.
He says this is not just about making up the numbers.
Meanwhile, Coca Cola Amatil Limited today presented the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association with a cheque of $767,223.
This is a five year cash sponsorship for the Coca Cola Games.
General Manager of Coca Cola Amatil Limited Steven Jowell says it is a great honor for them to be part of the event that breeds future stars for Fiji.
The Coca Cola Games is scheduled for the 25th and 26th of this month.
