Some schools in the flood hit areas in the Western Division have indicated that they are not ready to open on Monday however major cleanup was done this week.

Acting Head Teacher of Ba Muslim Primary School Mrs Hilal said many of the furniture in the classrooms have been damaged or covered with mud.

She said the school furniture and the compound needs to be cleaned up before classes can begin.

She added that about 30 soldiers have assisted in cleaning up the school, from Thursday.

She said she will inform the ministry that they are not in the position to open the school for classes.

The interim Education Minister Filipe Bole said school managements in the Western Division should inform their respective District Education Offices if they are not ready to open their schools.

Schools around the country open tomorrow however students will attend classes from Tuesday.

However, in a statement by National DISMAC, the interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has issued a directive that all schools that were used as an evacuation center must open on Tuesday and normal bus arrangements must proceed as usual.
