The Solomon Island see Fiji as a strategic location as far as the Pacific region is concern and it is important to keep a friendly relationship with the government of the day.
Speaking in the opening of the Solomon Island new chancery, Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua highlighted why he made the decision to have an office in Fiji.
Sikua said Fiji play an important role in education sector for his people who have come to institute like USP and Fiji National University.
He added the relationship between the two countries dated back to the Colonial days when Fijian soldiers fought in the World War II in Solomon’s and also some came as missionaries.
