The Fiji five-a-side soccer team's dream of playing in the Futsal World Cup later this year may be shattered after they were thrashed by Solomon Islands in the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Futsal soccer championship.

Fiji lost 6-11 to the Solomons in last night's match although they were locked at 4-all at the breather.

Fiji must now win their remaining matches against Vanuatu, Tahiti, Tuvalu and New Zealand and hope that the Solomons lose one of their remaining three games.

Rewa rep Kamal Hassan grabbed a hatrick for Fiji against Solomons while the other goals came from captain Meera Sahib and Alvin Avinesh.

Fiji will today play against Vanuatu at 6pm. Meanwhile, in other matches played last night, Vanuatu thrashed New Caledonia 11-1 and Tahiti upset New Zealand with a 3-2 victory.
