With the Solomon Islands expected to go to the polls in a little over three weeks, the Solomon Prime Minister's Office said this will not stop them attending the Engaging with the Pacific meeting in Fiji.
Secretary to the Solomon Island Prime Minister's Office Jeremiah Manele said elections are scheduled to be held in the first week of August, however this will not affect the Dr Sikua's election campaign and that is why he has committed himself to coming for the two day meet.
Along with Solomon Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Sir Michael Somare and Kiribati President Anote Tong will be attending the Meeting.
The meeting next week on Thursday and Friday in Natadola will also see Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama give a briefing on the progress and challenges of the implementation of the Road Map for Democracy and Sustainable Socioeconomic Development as well as open the floor for important regional development issues like Climate Change.
