The Solomon Island Prime Minister, Danny Phillips is expected to hold a meeting with Fiji Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama following the indefinite suspension of the MSG special meeting.

The special leaders meeting had been scheduled for Monday in Honiara in an effort to resolve the impasse over whether Fiji will take over as MSG chair.

This morning, the Solomon Islands government confirmed the meeting of Melanesian Spearhead Group leaders has been postponed indefinitely.

Assistant Secretary of the Pacific Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, John Wasi told Fijivillage news that the Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands Danny Philips has put the meeting on hold.

According to Radio Australia, Phillips would like to continue with talks with Fiji and at the same time they want to ensure that other members of the MSG body also are kept abreast with what is happening.
