Soldiers receive last ration allowances
Under the Job Evaluation Exercise, it was recommended that the ration allowance payment should stop by 2008 and the new system would see the ration allowance built-in a new pay structure for the soldiers.
Fijivillage News has received confirmation that the ration allowance paid out to members of the Fiji military is for the years from 2006 to 2008.
Ration allowance is paid out to those soldiers who are living outside the military camp.
Meanwhile Military Chief of Staff, Colonel Mohammed Aziz confirms that they have started paying out the ration allowance this week.
He said this allowance has been pending for some time for the soldiers.
While not revealing the exact amount given out, Colonel Aziz confirms money was deposited into their bank accounts.
Meanwhile, when asked on the military's expectations come the 2010 National Budget announcement this Friday, Colonel Aziz said they will be happy with whatever allocation is given as they are serving the nation.
