The last payment of the soldiers' ration allowances are being made this week as from next year this payment will stop with a new system under the Job Evaluation Exercise in place.

Under the Job Evaluation Exercise, it was recommended that the ration allowance payment should stop by 2008 and the new system would see the ration allowance built-in a new pay structure for the soldiers.

Fijivillage News has received confirmation that the ration allowance paid out to members of the Fiji military is for the years from 2006 to 2008.

Ration allowance is paid out to those soldiers who are living outside the military camp.

Meanwhile Military Chief of Staff, Colonel Mohammed Aziz confirms that they have started paying out the ration allowance this week.

He said this allowance has been pending for some time for the soldiers.

While not revealing the exact amount given out, Colonel Aziz confirms money was deposited into their bank accounts.
