Social Security is the main issue affecting the elderly in our society.
That is the sentiment Fiji Council of Social Services Executive Director Hassan Khan at the first National Consultation on the Formulation of a National Policy and framework for the elderly in Suva this morning.
Khan said since more often smaller families are emerging in Fiji, it’s important for family support.
It is hoped the Elderly Policy will be in place in the last quarter of this year.
The Elderly Policy will see the social protection of the elderly including health care, transportation, long term institution care, as well as support arrangements for family care givers and support for the disabled.
