Social networking is becoming a way to disseminate information and news a lot faster than traditional media.
These are the sentiments of Organising for America Deputy Director Jeremy Byrd when speaking to 32 journalists from around the world on a Social Media Tour in Washington DC.
Byrd said today more people in the US don't have time to read the newspapers, watch the news on TV or listen to the radio adding that since they are on the internet as part of work, they tend to organise their news according to their needs and wants.
Organising for America's Natalie Foster said nowadays social and traditional media tend to work together, with people using the internet and traditional media for news and information.
Organising for America is an organisation of the Democratic National Committee which deals with social media under US President Barrack Obama.
