The Social Welfare Ministry has made special arrangements for the recipients of the $30 Food Voucher program, as distribution for the months of July to December starts today.
Permanent Secretary Govind Sami said the recipients have been reminded that they will have to provide some form of identification in order to receive their vouchers from the various districts and divisional offices from today.
Sami said however taking into account that not all of the recipients will have proper ID's, the Ministry has made special arrangements.
Sami also revealed that the two authorised vendors, New World and MH Supermarket have agreed to team up and approach their suppliers to negotiate for discounts on basic food items.
Sami said the intention is to stretch the $30 and ensure that maximum amount of food is put in a basket.
