The Fiji women’s soccer team is aiming for a semifinal spot in the Oceania Football Confederation Women’s Nations Cup in New Zealand.
The 2010 OFC tournament, which kicks off on the 29th of this month, is also the playoffs for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany with the winner getting a qualifying spot.
Head coach Ramesh Sharma said that the 20 member squad which consists of many new faces is out to do the country proud although they are in a tough pool with Solomon Islands, Tonga and PNG.
Fiji’s opening pool game is against PNG on the 30th of this month at the North Harbour Stadium.
