A prominent Fiji Football Associations sports personality has lost his life after he was electrocuted last night.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed to Fijivillage few minutes ago that the referee and two others were in a van when he lost control of the vehicle on the Queens Road and in the process hit a lamp post where live wire fell on the vehicle, electrocuting the soccer referee.

Meanwhile, a 38 year old man lost his life on our roads last night bringing the total road death toll to 23 compared to 25 for the same period last year.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that the 38 year old man was standing on the roadside with another when he was hit by a vehicle.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road claiming the life of one and landing one in the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle is also admitted at the hospital and he is being expected to be questioned later.

Meanwhile, a man who allegedly caused the death of a 14 year old student in Khalsa Road on Friday morning is expected to appear in Nasinu court tomorrow.

He has been charged with Causing Death by Dangerous driving and Dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

He allegedly lost control of his rental car which went off the road and hit 14 year old and her 10 year old brother.

The girl died at the scene while her brother is still fighting for his life.
