Soccer League Set to Kick Off
Last night in the 2007 National Soccer League prize giving ceremony it was a time for business houses to bid for the team they will support in the 2008 competition.
With Ba and Labasa already being sponsored by Vodafone it was left to districts like Rewa, Nasinu, Suva, Navua, Nadi, Lautoka, Tavua, Nadroga and the other Premier districts hoping they get a chance to be recognized by business people who were bidding for their team.
For the first time all Vanua-levu Premier teams like Seaqaqa, Nadogo, Dreketi, Savusavu, Bua and Taveuni will be known as Southern Forest after Anil Sharma sponsored each district for $1,500 dollars each.
The biggest bid went out for Rewa, Navua and Nadi as they will get $12,000 dollars each.
The Delta boys will be known as the Diva Rewa, while Southern Forest will be behind Navua while V energy of Ashabhai is with Nadi.
Lincoln Refrigeration will support Lautoka with $10,000 dollars while Suva has the lowest of the bid in the sum of $7,500 from Suva Electric.
Nadroga and Tavua are still without a sponsor for the 2008 season.
The official opening of the New World National Soccer League next week in Subrail Park where defending champion Labasa will take on Rewa.
