The soccer arena locally has been full of drama this season starting from the Champion vs Champion series where Labasa ended soccer king Ba's dominance in the CVC after 14 years.

Hope and prayers of the Babasiga Lions to repeat that performance in the Fiji Fact were dashed by Navua who won the title for the first time on Western soil beating Labasa 1-nil in the final.

The loss did not go down well with Labasa officials who claimed that two of their players Pita Bolaitoga and Maciu Dunadamu sold the game to Navua. Fiji FA set up a committee to look at the allegation and their findings did not favour Labasa.

Bolaitoga and Dunadamu then switched district and joined Ba and they helped the Men In Black beat Labasa 2-nil in the BOG final and were also instrumental in the National League title win at Subrail park.

The last soccer tournament for the season went to Lautoka after beating Ba 1-0 in the IDC final.

The National soccer team didn't have a good season failing to qualify for the World Cup playoff's but beat New Zealand All Whites 2-0 in their final pool match and for the first time ever climbed to 106th in the Fifa World Rankings.

Fiji FA is hoping that 2009 will be good season for them.
