Villagers of Soa in Nakorotubu, Ra are being evacuated to the Police Bure in Korovou as the Kings Road is still closed to traffic.

Korovou Police confirmed the villagers could not go across as the roads to Nayavu, Wailotua and Naqia were 2 metres under water.

Police added the evacuees did not lack food rations after the Interim Minister for Women, Dr Jiko Luveni visited the site on Tuesday with food rations including flour, rice, sugar and biscuits were given to villagers.

The 27 villagers who are affected by the flood are now staying at the Korovou Police Bure while 22 others are been evacuated to the MPI Quarters in Korovou.

Meanwhile, DISMAC is calling on motorists travelling on the Korovou Road to be extra careful as strong winds are currently experienced in Korovou resulting in trees falling down.
