Sir John Kirwan has vented his frustration at the growing talent pool in Auckland being snatched up.

The Blues coach has come under fire for letting the likes of Malakai Fekitoa and Gareth Anscombe go from the region.

He said other people come in and pick out the top players and they can't do much to compete.

Kirwan said people should pay a regional fee if a player has been with them for a certain length of time, so they are not wasting their time developing the player only for them to leave.

The Blues play the Sharks at 7:35pm this Friday while the Rebels host the Waratahs at 9:40pm.
