Outgoing NSW Blues skipper, Paul Gallen says his opposing captain Cameron Smith is the best player he's ever seen or played with or against, hands down.
The lofty praise was delivered at Gallen's final ever pre‑Origin press conference in response to Smith's comments that Gallen was up there with the best forwards he'd played with.
The pair are long‑term rivals at club and Origin level while also being long‑term Kangaroos teammates but asked for his view on Smith, Gallen says there was no doubt that even someone as great as Johnathan Thurston takes a back seat compared to the influence Smith has had on the game.
The Blues will host the Maroons at 10pm tomorrow.
