The interim government faces the challenge of making operating a micro or small enterprise a first option for young people so they can employ themselves and eventually other people.

While speaking at the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Workshop at the Tradewinds Raffles House in Lami, Permanent Secretary for Industry, Tourism, Trade and Communications Banuve Komaitotoya highlighted promoting entrepreneurship and innovative Small Medium Enterprises in Fiji's economy and the challenge of coordinating our efforts for development in our current economic climate and integration into the global economy.

She said many potential entrepreneurs have the ideas but lack business skills and capital to setup their businesses.

Komaitotoya added that concerted efforts should be made to connect these business requirements, through improved collaboration between capital and service providers in the public and private sectors, to benefit prospective entrepreneurs.

She stressed that their success will contribute to Fiji's economic prosperity, and social and political stability.
