Slow start
Fiji made a slow start in their first game with a 19-0 win over France.
Waisea Nayacalevu continued where he left off last week after scoring two brilliant tries to help Fiji beat France 19-0 in its first pool match of the Japan Sevens.
Nayacalevu scored his first try after he was set up by Hong Kong Sevens player of the tournament Nikola Matawalu.
The national side went into half time with just a 5-0 lead.
Nayacalevu again showed his class mid way into the second half as he dummied his way through the French defense.
Hard working forward Nemani Nagusa scored Fiji’s third try after Metuisela Talebula made the initial break.
Fiji’s most successful coach Ilivasi Tabua said the national side needs to lift their game against Japan and England.
Fiji will face Japan in its next match at 6:47pm before tackling England at 10:09pm.
Meanwhile New Zealand is looking strong after winning both their games.
The Kiwis earlier beat USA 26-5 before thrashing Hong Kong 40-0.
In other results, England beat Japan 15-5, Samoa nearly lost to Portugal 21-20 while Hong Kong lost 14-17 Australia, Wales beat Russia 10-7 and Argentina defeated Kenya 15-7.
