The latest victim, this afternoon a 13 year old student from Adi Cakobau School who drowned this afternoon at the Vatuwaqa river.
Police Spokesperson, Josaia Weicavu said she was swimming with her friends when she drowned. Police have advised members of the public to be careful.
Two residents in Lautoka were killed yesterday after they were electrocuted.
Two more lives were claimed last night, one 81-year old man from Vunuku in Rewa, was still in the house when it caught fire and claimed his life.
And in the second incident, a 16-year old girl from Vatoa in Bau died last night after she was ill, as there was no transport that could take her to Wainibokasi Health centre.
Another person died today while another has been admitted to the Lautoka hospital.
Divisional Crime Officer Western, SP Vijay Singh confirms the deceased who is 55 years old went fishing with his two friends yesterday morning and after receiving reports of the cyclone they returned to Tavarau, Ba. The deceased chose to sleep in the boat while the other two went to a nearby village for shelter. When the two friends returned to the boat this morning, they found the 55 year old friend dead with no visible injuries to his body.
