In Lau, with help expected to arrive on Friday, the people of Naividamu Fulaga, Lau said their main need at this point in time is having access to clean drinking water.
Village nurse Seini Gade said the source of their drinking water has been contaminated with seawater, and they are facing shortage of food supply as most of their plantations have been destroyed.
She added for now they have to travel by boat to neighbouring villages to source and buy food.
Ten families in the village of Doi, Ono-i-lau are sheltering at Doi Primary School after strong winds damaged their homes.
Waisake Tora said these ten families have nowhere else to go and they are awaiting help from DISMAC.
Meanwhile, three DISMAC officials are at this moment carrying out damage assessments in Yadrana village.
Turaga-ni-Koro Measake Qalikinayatulau said he has been briefed by the officials that only houses completely damaged will be considered for assistance.
Qalikinayatulau said 10 houses in the village have been completely destroyed.
Concerns have also been raised from members of the village that their plantations have been destroyed which was their main source of income.
Yadrana village which is well known for their traditional mats has had all their voivoi plantations destroyed.
Seaqaqa farmers lose all
Farmers in Seaqaqa village located in the interior of Vanualevu have lost almost all their crops and livestock during hurricane Tomas.
Navudi Seaqaqa Advisory Councilor, Amrit Prasad said extensive damage has been done to sugar cane and other crops and farmers have lost thousands of dollars.

In Taveuni, a number of houses have been damaged and extensive damage has been done to dalo plantations.
Carpenters Motors Taveuni Branch Manager, Shalvin Maharaj said people have started to clean up the debris left behind by Hurricane Tomas.
