Defence Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau said the Commonwealth Special Envoy, Sir Paul Reeves knew before he arrived that would not be allowed to speak to opposition politicians.
Ratu Epeli Ganilau said the government told the Commonwealth Secretary General that Sir Paul will only have access to the government.
He said Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama was upfront with the Commonwealth about what would not be acceptable.
Meanwhile Sir Paul Reeves has told Radio NZ that he had no say in who he meets while in Fiji.
Sir Paul said they were very much dependent upon what was arranged for them by the government of the day and he says they have not included all the political parties.
Sir Paul said and I quote "whatever be our feelings about that that is the position we accept" end of quote.
