Sir Paul ready to start discussions
The former Governor General of NZ and one of the architects of the 1997 constitution, who arrives in Fiji next week for talks with Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and other stakeholders, said it would be a good time to plot a way forward.
Sir Paul Reeves hopes to get an indication on how best things can be done to assist Fiji to return to democratic rule.
The Fiji government said it looks forward to the meeting with the Commonwealth representatives next week.
The government said it also notes that the Commonwealth remains committed to engaging with Fiji notwithstanding its suspension from the Commonwealth.
A statement said the Fiji government cherishes its membership of the Commonwealth and also believes that the Commonwealth can partner with Fiji to resolve its long standing systematic and structural challenges.
Commonwealth Special Envoy Sir Paul Reeves will visit Fiji for three days from next Wednesday
Meanwhile, Acting Prime Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau said he is unaware about who Sir Paul and his team will meet.
He said the Prime Minister returns from Malaysia on Sunday and all will be known next week.
