Commonwealth Special Representative, Sir Paul Reeves arrives in the country later today for a two-day visit to hold talks with the government and key stakeholders on Fiji's situation.
Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamlesh Sharma said he welcomes Commodore Bainimarama's invitation for a delegation to visit Fiji, and fully supports this opportunity for Sir Paul Reeves to engage with the government to promote an early restoration of constitutional democracy.
He said Sir Paul will explore opportunities for continued Commonwealth engagement in support of an inclusive and time-bound national political dialogue, to facilitate the return of constitutional democracy.
The Commonwealth Secretariat said Sir Paul will meet with Commodore Bainimarama and other senior functionaries of the government.
It said Sir Paul also hopes to meet other key stakeholders.
Before leaving for Fiji, Sir Paul said that he hopes good sense will prevail but he hinted that we may be heading for the long haul.
Permanent Secretary for Information, Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni confirms that Sir Paul Reeves will have meetings with Commodore Bainimarama, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Education Minister Filipe Bole, former members of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji, former members of the Electoral Commission, the Fiji Employers Federation and the Fiji Chamber of Commerce.
Reeves first meeting is expected to be with Bainimarama tomorrow morning.
