Commonwealth Special Representative, Sir Paul Reeves arrives in the country later today for a two-day visit to hold talks with the government and key stakeholders on Fiji's situation.

Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamlesh Sharma said he welcomes Commodore Bainimarama's invitation for a delegation to visit Fiji, and fully supports this opportunity for Sir Paul Reeves to engage with the government to promote an early restoration of constitutional democracy.

He said Sir Paul will explore opportunities for continued Commonwealth engagement in support of an inclusive and time-bound national political dialogue, to facilitate the return of constitutional democracy.

The Commonwealth Secretariat said Sir Paul will meet with Commodore Bainimarama and other senior functionaries of the government.

It said Sir Paul also hopes to meet other key stakeholders.

Before leaving for Fiji, Sir Paul said that he hopes good sense will prevail but he hinted that we may be heading for the long haul.
