Vodafone Fiji Bati rep Tariq Sims may be called up to join the New South Wales rugby league side for game one of the State of Origin against Queensland.
New South Wales coach Laurie Daley and Blues enforcer Greg Bird have both backed Tariq to push for a long awaited Origin call up when teams are named for Game One on May 28.
Tariq was drafted into Ricky Stuart's squad prior to Game One in 2012 but he was injured and has not been able to force his way into contention since.
Tariq will feature for the Cowboys at 7:30 tonight against the Titans.
