Simon McCartney refused bail
Magistrate Semisi refused bail because McCartney's lawyer Sevuloni Valenitabua's affidavit was too expansive, and the Magistrate said he needed time to look at it.
The case has been adjourned to this Thursday, where Magistrate Semisi will rule on the issue of bail.
Valenitabua also told the court that his client is scared to be remanded at Korovou and if arrangements can be made for him to be held elsewhere.
Magistrate Semisi then ruled that McCartney be remanded at the Central Police Station.
Assistant DPP, Ashika Prasad also told the court that the file containing the charges against McCartney by Police was received by the Office of the DPP this morning.
Prasad then made an application for the case to be heard in the Navua Court because the alleged murder took place in Deuba and she quoted Section 57 of the Penal Code, where it states that the matter is to be heard where the offence occurred.
Magistrate Semisi took note of the application, but ruled that for the time being the case, which is to be heard again on Thursday, will be held in Suva.
