One of the greatest son of soccer in the country has passed away.
Former national rep and Labasa striker Simon "Maradona" Peters passed away last night.
Fiji Football Association Vice President Sheik Ibrahim was shocked of the news saying that Fiji has lost one of its greatest players.
Ibrahim said the player dubbed by many soccer fans as Maradona because of his fancy footwork will be hard to replace.
Simon Peters played in the Fiji team that won the first ever gold medal in soccer during the South Pacific Games in 1991.
He played alongside Tagi Vonolagi, Abrham Watkins, Lote Delai, Radike Nawalu, and Maretino Nemani in the Fiji team.
During his playing days for Labasa they tasted their first IDC win in 1992.
