A silver or bronze medal in the Olympic Games for the Fiji men’s 7s team is not good enough according to coach, Ben Ryan.
In an interview released by Ryan’s university, the coach shares the story about the team’s journey to the Rio Olympics.
Speaking to Loughborough University, Ryan says winning Fiji’s first gold medal in the Olympics will definitely be special for everyone in Fiji.
Ryan says the team has managed to overcome a number of challenges and their journey continues in Rio next week.
The Fiji men’s 7s side will take on Brazil in their first Rio Olympics pool game at 4.30am next Wednesday, they will then face Argentina at 9.30am before taking on USA at 4.30am next Thursday.
The quarterfinals will start at 8am next Thursday, the semis will start at 5.30am next Friday and the final will kick off at 10am next Friday.
The Fijiana 7s team will take on USA in their first pool match at 4am this Sunday.
They play Australia at 9.30am and then take on Colombia at 4am Monday.
The Fiji soccer team will play their first Olympics match against Korea Republic at 11am today.
