Former Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa School student Inia Sili who is now running for Suva Grammar School is an athlete to watch in this year’s Coca-Cola Games.

Sili won two gold medals for Grammar in the Suva Zone Two this morning after winning the senior boy's 3000 and 1500 metres event and is expected to run in the 4x400 metres relay this afternoon.

The 19 year old from Wailevu in Savusavu clocked the time of 4 minutes 24 seconds in the 1500 metres and hopes to improve his time before the Fiji Finals.


Sili is the current record holder of the Coca-Cola Games Senior Boys 1500 metres with the time of 4 minutes 07.53 seconds.

Meanwhile, a new record was set today by 14 year old Maria Beranadeta of Waidina Secondary School in the girl’s open grade 1500 metres.

Beranadeta broke Noela Taqai's record of 5 minutes 19 seconds with a new time of 5 minutes 12 seconds.

Beranadeta from Nasele in Naitasiri also won gold in the open girl’s 3000 metres yesterday.

In other events, Farasiko Mualevu of Suva Grammar School won the Inter boy’s 1500m with the time of 4 minutes 29 seconds while Neumi Komaitai of Suva Grammar won the Junior boy’s 1500m with the time of 4 minutes 47 seconds.

Looking at the medal tally, Suva Grammar is leading the boy’s division with 4 gold, Marist is second with 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze, Ratu Latianara is third with 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Waidina Secondary School lead the girl’s division with 2 gold while Saint Joseph and Grammar are second with 1 gold, Suva Sangam is third with 1 silver and 1 bronze.
