The Works Ministry said they had shut down the supply of water to some areas in Viti Levu to sustain water levels.

Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said following the power shutdown experienced early this morning from 4am, coupled with no electricity to operate the pumps, engineers decided to shut down the supply of water to maintain the levels at their various reservoirs.

Waqainabete said they were mindful of the difficulties that people were going to face but, if they had not cut the supply of water to some areas then some of the reservoirs would have been completely dry.
