The man who was responsible for the 2006 polls is now raising the question on where is the evidence in relation to the electoral fraud and vote rigging in the 2006 elections as claimed by the interim government last year.
Semesa Karavaki said a lot was said last year and many claims were made about vote rigging, the usage of extra ballot papers and corrupt and biased officials.
However Karavaki said everyone has gone quiet now.
He calls on the authorities to explain what has happened to all those allegations made against him and the Elections Office.
Karavaki maintains that all these allegations are baseless as even the observers from the Commonwealth, the UN and the EU gave the all clear that the 2006 election was free and fair.
Under the interim government, an internal audit report prepared by the Finance Ministry was released last year highlighting a number of alleged discrepancies in the 2006 elections. It was then referred to the police and FICAC. We will have more on this issue later today.
