There is a shortage of domestic supply of timber, to meet our export demands.
This was an issue raised by one of the groups tasked to look into the Forestry industry at the Food Symposium held in Suva on Thursday.
Group chairman, Chris Donlon said Fiji cannot uplift its timber exports because it has not been certified to reach the market demand.
Donlon said they have recommended that overseas manufactures should be invited to Fiji, adding better planning of our national road system would also beneficial.
Donlon said the plantation size must be replanted and with the existing crops namely pine and mahogany, there is not much of replanting done to it.
