There are not enough water trucks to meet the needs of all those affected by water disruptions.
Divisional Water Engineer Central Eastern Sereicokocoko Yanuyanurua said at the moment they have only four trucks carting water to all the areas that are affected by water cuts and this is not enough for residents.
Yanuyanurua said in previous years, they had a large fleet that was specifically used to cart water but since the trucks were left idle, they have been absorbed into the Public Service into other departments and when they are needed, it is hard to get them back.
However, Yanuyanurua said they are addressing the issue at the moment and are in talks to get more trucks.
He added that these same trucks are being used to cart water to areas like Samabula, Wailoku and other areas that have no water at the moment.
This follows complaints by residents in Delainavesi, Wailoku, Veisari and New Town that they have not been serviced by water trucks as promised by the department.
Meanwhile, more than 300 people in Boubale, Bulileka, Labasa are frustrated as they are not receiving normal tap water supply from last Friday.
A resident, Afroja Shameem said they have been told the water engineer is not at work and the water level is low.
Shameem said only one water carting truck has visited their area from Friday which is not sufficient for the whole area.
The Labasa Water Supply Department is expected to comment later today.
