Shop owners are taking full advantage of daylight saving and applying for permits to extend the shopping hours.

Suva City Council Public Relations Officer, Jillian Hick said they have received number of applications from business houses who want to extend the opening hours of shops so the people are able to take advantage and do their Christmas shopping.

She also adds that businesses have to pay $22.50 per day for the extension of shopping hours and some of the business owners have applied to extend the shopping hours till Christmas Eve and some have applied to extend the hours till New Year.

Those who have received the approval will now be able to open their shops till 9pm.
