Ship owners have been warned not to take advantage of the increase in demand in transportation that usually comes with the festive season.
Ministry of Transport spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said a lot of people will be making plans to travel to the outer islands to spend the festive season with their families, and is calling on ship owners not to overload their ships with passengers.
Waqainabete added officials from FIMSA will be monitoring ships.
