Former All Blacks captain Wayne Buck Shelford will be working very closely with former New Zealand 7s captain Eric Rush to pick one of the best New Zealand Maori teams to take part in the Uprising Fiji International 7s tournament in Suva next month.

Coordinator Randall Kamea said since the tournament is only two weeks away from the New Zealand 7s, Gordon Tietjens will not be able to get the team over, however, both Shelford and Rush will select a team to represent the Maoris.

Kamea added that Navy is the latest local team to confirm their participation and will be joined by Uprising and Nadroga, with three other local teams to be confirmed.

Other teams like Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, New Caledonia, Samurai International, US Grizzlies, France Development and the Ponsonby Club will take part.

The Uprising Fiji International 7s will be held on the 21st and 22nd of next month at the TFL Stadium.
