The Sharks have made three changes to their starting lineup for this week’s encounter against the Lions in Durban, including a recall for national captain John Smit at prop.

The veteran forward, who has been out of form this season much to the concern of Springbok coach Peter de Villiers, comes in at loose head as part of the rotational policy of coach John Plumtree.

The Durban franchise has endured a terrible time in recent weeks, losing three matches in a row to follow four successive wins.

Coach Plumtree said that the Lions are a side that is inventive and they play to all areas of space on the field, whether that is close or out wide.

The Sharks/Lions match kicks off at 5:10am on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the lone match tonight at 7:35pm will see the Highlanders host the Cheetahs in Dunedin.
