Sharks boss Gary Gold has apologised for his side's performance during their humiliating 52‑10 loss to the Crusaders in Durban last Saturday.

The home side went into the clash in third spot on the overall table and at the top of the South African Conference but were blown away by the seven‑time champions who outscored them by eight tries to one.

And to add insult to injury, the Sharks were forced to play most of the game with 14 men after Jean Deysel was red‑carded in the 39th minute.

After Round 8 of Super Rugby, the Hurricanes continue to top the table with 31 points, second are Brumbies with 24 points while the Bulls trail in third place with 19 points.

The Sharks will meet the Lions at 3.05am Sunday.
