I never thought I could get cancer however it just goes to show that it can affect anyone, irrespective of gender, wealth or status.

This was the message stressed by the Director of Fiji's Women's Crisis Centre Shamima Ali who shared her life changing situation when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer two years ago with those present at the Fiji Cancer Society Biggest Morning Tea hosted by the Centre.

Thinking she had Gastric, Ali said she consulted with an overseas medical team who told her that she had a type of cancer which is least talked about in Fiji.
