These are the words of Fiji Women's Crisis Centre Coordinator and Fiji Human Rights Commissioner, Shamima Ali responding to comments by Fiji Human Rights Chair Dr Shaista Shameem on human rights violations being present before December 5th and that there was a form of apartheid in Fiji.
Ali said what is needed is time and dialogue between level headed individuals in Fiji.
Shameem had earlier stated that the Fiji Human Rights Commission said Fiji is now in a post-apartheid era and that the president's mandate given to the interim government is a good indication that discrimination will no longer be tolerated in Fiji.
She was reacting to Pope Benedict's recent human rights message to the UN General Assembly where he referred to freedom of religion, freedom from discrimination and the right to equality of all people.
