Police are concerned with the recent increase in the number of sexual attacks against young children.
Assistant spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said a sudden increase has been noted in the last few months whereby young children have either been raped or sexually assaulted.
The recent case is from Levuka whereby a 17 year old student was allegedly raped when she was on her way home after school when a 22 year old man allegedly raped her.
The man has been arrested and is being questioned.
Sergeant Sokomuri said most of the offenders who commit these crimes are known to the victims.
