More than a thousand people are being affected due to the unbearable stench coming out from overflowing sewerage water in a drain in Navutu, Lautoka, 3 kilometres from Lautoka town.
A worker in the area Prem Singh said that the stench has been there from some time now however the sewage started overflowing from yesterday.
He said more than a 1,000 people work in the area and also live in a koro nearby.
Singh said that it is hard for them to have their lunch in that area and sometimes they have to skip lunch when the stench gets unbearable.
The Water Authority of Fiji is currently looking into the matter.
